Clinical Services - Counseling At the ADRC, we understand that Alzheimers disease, Mild Cognitive Impairment or even age-associated memory impairment can be overwhelming for patients and their family caregivers who must continuously find new ways to cope with these conditions. Because living with Alzheimer's disease or other memory-related conditions can be difficult, we offer counseling services to our patients and their families.
Who is eligible for counseling services? Counseling services are available to all ADRC patients who are cognitively able to participate, and their family caregivers. What are the counseling services offered by the ADRC?
Additional services, related to specific clinical trials or psychosocial interventions, may be available to participants in those research studies. All counseling is offered on an as-needed basis for as long as the patient is registered at the ADRC. What are the benefits of counseling services at the ADRC?
What are the enrollment procedures for counseling services? Registered patients of the ADRC and their family caregivers are eligible to receive counseling services from the time of initial diagnosis at the ADRC. There is no formal enrollment procedure and counseling is done on an as-needed basis. Who provides counseling at the ADRC? Five Family Counselors are on staff to provide counseling services. Although patients and their families usually work with one counselor on a continuous basis, all six counselors are available for consultation by telephone at (212) 263-5728
