Clinical Trials

All new drugs must pass a lengthy FDA drug approval process before they can be sold to the public. Clinical trials are federally sanctioned drug studies that are part of this process. Their main goal is to make sure that new drugs are safe for people to use, and effective in treating a particular disease or its symptoms.

Because clinical trials offer patients access to drugs that are not yet available to the public, they offer a new alternative to Alzheimer's patients who are not responding to existing treatments and for people with MCI and AAMI.

For many years, the NYU Silberstein Aging and Dementia Research Center has been assisting in the design of nationally conducted clinical trials and, thanks to its many volunteer participants, has been successfully conducting these studies at the ADRC.
