Isabel Monteiro, M.D. Research Assistant Profesor
Dr. Monteiros current research interests include clinical trials in aging and Alzheimers disease, and the development of improved diagnostic and outcome testing instruments, particularly, behavioral measures. Dr. Monteiro has developed a series of video tapes for the training of professionals in conducting behavioral evaluations of dementia patients. She plays a vital role for an NIA study of the longitudinal course of aging and dementia, performing diagnostic evaluations, leading team visits to community and nursing homes and conducting family conferences in which diagnoses and future care management of patients are discussed. Dr. Monteiro has been editoral referee for several medical journals, has been guest speaker at a number of professional conferences and she is the author of numerous publications in the field of Alzheimers disease.
