Emile Franssen, M.D.
Associate Clinical Director

Emile Franssen, M.D. is a neurologist, neuropathologist and gerontologist who also has a background in geriatric psychiatry. Dr. Franssen, Associate Clinical Director of the NYU Silberstein Aging & Dementia Research Center and Associate Research Professor of the Department of Psychiatry at NYU School of Medicine, has been studying aging and Alzheimer’s disease for more than 16 years. Amongst other activities, Dr. Franssen’s work at the ADRC involves detailed neurologic evaluations; involvement in clinical trials of new drugs for Alzheimer’s disease and collaboration on research projects.

Dr. Franssen is the author of numerous publications that have contributed to a better understanding of the neurologic background of physical, functional and behavioral changes in Alzheimer’s disease. His work also has important practical consequences in regard to improvement of care for patients with Alzheimer’s disease.
