Cynthia Epstein, ACSW
Family Counselor

Cynthia Epstein, ACSW, is a clinical social worker with advanced training and experience in working with and treating older adults and their families. She is a Family Counselor at the NYU Silberstein Aging & Dementia Research Center, coordinator of research projects involving the experience of caregiving for a person with Alzheimer’s disease, and the psychological impact of receiving a diagnosis of Mild Cognitive Impairment, and collaborator on several caregiver research studies. She is co-author of a book for family caregivers about maintaining the health of people with Alzheimer’s disease at home and during a hospitalization, as well as a forthcoming guide for healthcare professionals.

In addition to her work at the center, Cynthia Epstein maintains a private psychotherapy practice in Manhattan with a special emphasis on issues of aging and caregiving. She has trained at Brookdale Center on Aging and the Geriatric Education Center and has received advanced training in child treatment. She is currently enrolled in a program in Body-Centered Gestalt Therapy.
