FUNDING AND CONTRIBUTIONS
For Your Consideration
While the Silberstein Institute for Aging and Dementia
receives significant funding from Federal agencies – a strong endorsement
of our research efforts – many of our programs and services are
not funded from these sources nor covered by patient fees. Accordingly,
we are increasingly dependent upon support from the private sector, especially
the generosity of individuals, in carrying out our mission.
We ask that you consider playing a role in our efforts.
Your Support Can Come In Many Ways
The most direct way to make a contribution to our research and programs
is to write a check. However, there are other forms that your gift can
take which can both allow you to a make a larger commitment and at the
same time potentially be of benefit to you, your estate or your children.
For example, trusts can be created which will provide current or retirement
income to you or a beneficiary while ultimately supporting our programs.
These life income arrangements can provide income tax and estate tax advantages
and often increase the income now available from the donated assets. Trusts
can also be created which provide current income to our programs for a
pre-determined number of years with the trust’s principal being
returned to you or your heirs with significant gift and estate tax savings.
Your Will can direct a specific amount or designate a percentage of you
residual estate to benefit our research.
Gifts of insurance policies which have served their purpose can also provide
a convenient way to make a gift. Real estate can be given outright or
given now while reserving the right to reside there for life.
Gifts of securities which have grown in value are a frequent form of giving
which offer the possibility of significant tax advantages by avoiding
capital gains tax on the appreciated value.
Whatever the means, we welcome your further inquiry regarding gifts by
